Empowering Displaced Communities in Uganda

IGRAO began in 2018 in Kyebitaka Block 04, Kyangwali Refugee Settlement. Local refugee residents came together to solve two critical challenges: vulnerable children missing school due to extreme poverty, and families facing severe food insecurity.

Through our flagship Start Small and Grow to Achieve (SGA) project, we have established 7 active community fish ponds, Matooke banana plantations, and school feeding programs, transforming emergency reliance into sustainable community self-determination.

Restoring Degraded Lands Through Community Action

When our community settled in Kyebitaka in 2018, surrounding hills were stripped of trees, leading to severe soil erosion and crop failures during torrential rains. Rather than waiting, we founded the Mukarange Community Tree Nursery Association (MCTNA).
