CONSTRUCTION OF IGRAO OFFICES & SCHOOL BLOCKS

A landmark community driven infrastructure project in Kyebitaka Block 04, delivering a permanent central administrative operations offices and modern Early Childhood Development (ECD) nursery and primary classroom blocks for refugee and host community children.

Building Permanent Foundations for Education & Leadership

In Kyebitaka Block 04 of Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, IGRAO is constructing a flagship community infrastructure center: our permanent organization offices and dedicated Early Childhood Development (ECD) nursery and primary classroom blocks.

For years, refugee learners and community meetings operated under temporary shelters vulnerable to severe rains and weather damage. This permanent masonry complex provides dignified, high safety learning spaces, a central administrative offices for field coordination, and community consultation facilities that anchor all IGRAO operations.

Exterior Doors & Windows Secured Across The Complex

On August 30, 2026, the construction team achieved an essential operational milestone with the successful installation of heavy duty security doors and weather sealed window panels across the entire offices and classroom block.

This achievement fully encloses the building envelope, protecting interior spaces from harsh weather elements and safeguarding equipment. With security firmly established, skilled masons and volunteers have begun interior wall plastering, screeding, and electrical installations.

Next Phases Toward Full Classroom Opening

With structural masonry, roofing, and exterior closures complete, we are actively mobilizing resources to finalize interior surfaces, power, sanitation, and learning furniture.

Phase 3A: Plastering & Flooring

Applying smooth cement plastering across all interior classroom and office walls, followed by high durability, dust free floor screeding for child comfort.

Phase 3B: Solar Power & Water

Installing off grid rooftop solar energy systems to provide reliable lighting for evening study sessions, plus rainwater harvesting guttering and clean water storage.

RESOURCE MOBILIZATION

Phase 3C: Desks & Learning Aids

Equipping nursery and primary rooms with locally crafted wooden three seater desks, chalkboards, teacher desks, lockable book storage cabinets, and early learning toys.
