1. Construction of Organization Headquarters & Nursery Hub

In Kyebitaka Block 04, IGRAO is constructing a permanent community headquarters and early childhood development nursery block. On August 30, 2026, the team achieved a major operational milestone with the successful installation of all exterior doors and windows.

This permanent facility will house administrative offices, secure community meeting spaces, early childhood learning rooms, and a distribution center for farming tools and tree seedlings.

2. Child Sponsorship & Adult Literacy Classes

Our basic education initiative directly addresses child exclusion by covering school tuition, learning uniforms, and scholastic supplies for orphaned and highly vulnerable refugee children in Kyebitaka.

Complementing child education, IGRAO recently launched Adult Literacy Classes in Kyangwali. This empowers refugee mothers, community elders, and farmers with reading, writing, and basic numeracy skills required to navigate local markets and manage household finances.

3. Sustainable Farming, Fish Ponds & Women’s VSLAs

Under the Start Small and Grow to Achieve (SGA) project, IGRAO trains refugee and host community households in high-yield Matooke banana agronomy and manages 7 active fish ponds stocked with catfish.

This agricultural output is paired with our Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA), where women’s circles accumulate weekly savings, access micro-loans for agro-enterprise, and build sustainable household resilience independent of donor relief.
