Matooke (cooking banana) is the backbone of food security in western Uganda. IGRAO’s banana plantations utilize eco-friendly, organic farming practices to grow premium matooke.
Our agricultural training equips refugee farmers with grafting, pruning, and soil restoration skills, enabling high-yield harvests from small land spaces. Bananas are harvested to feed local households and sold in cooperative markets, providing consistent, independent livelihoods for families who formerly relied entirely on humanitarian aid.
Expanding our banana plantations is a priority for 2026-2027, as we scale our operations to cover school costs for children in Kyebitaka Block 04.
