Child malnutrition and food insecurity are massive challenges in overcrowded refugee settlements. Our community fish ponds in Kyebitaka block 04 are a direct answer to this crisis.
Managing 7 active fish ponds, IGRAO trains local agricultural cooperatives in modern aquaculture, feeding regimes, and ecological pond maintenance. Tilapia and catfish harvests are distributed twice a week to children sponsored by IGRAO, ensuring they receive critical protein and nutrients, while surplus harvests are sold at local markets to cover school fees and cooperative operational expenses.
Supporting this project helps us expand clean water channels, purchase high-survival fingerlings, and expand nutrition programs to support hundreds of displaced children in Kyangwali.
